Jeremy Thomas The accumulated observational data strongly suggest that anomalies can "perceive" from any point in their "bodies", for them there is no front, back, up or down(as in space), and that data also suggest that they can "perceive" using a more wide segment of the electromagnetic spectrum than the very narrow "visible" segment that we use to see.

That implies that since there is no "preferred direction" for anomalies to use to move "tumbling" is just a "natural" way for them to move.
